Sheesh! I knew Canadians who can afford it sometimes come to America for medical care - that didn't shock me. Americans used to brag about their medical system being the best in the world, and maybe it once was. Certainly it makes perfect sense for Canadians to come next store if they can't get what they need at home. That's the market at work.
But I didn't realize. Canada's system is so bad that Cuba is an improvement? Cuba? Seriously?
Say it's a parody site, C.M. C'mon. Lie to me.

No I'm sorry it's the truth. But it's O.K. because when you go to a Cuban Doctor or clinic for your medical issues you are spending real money, that they in turn use to buy loads of medicines for their own. Every time you go you are super charging a economy and allowing some poor schlep meds that the "Evil American Empire's embargo" has denied Castro and his friends.
What ever, hopping over to the US for medical treatment is a bad capitalist selfish pig thing to do. Hop over to Cuba? Lord Love a duck you are a lefties dream....Viva la revolution...
the thing is not every one can afford u.s. medical treatment and Cuba supposedly has good doctors and hospitals and is much cheaper for those who can pay in hard currency. So it probably has more to do with that than ideology. Medical tourism is growing. If you need a hip resurfacing, for example, India has a good reputation and it costs about 80% less including airfare than a u.s. hospital. And you aren't in a u.s. data base. So for now it's a good option.
Anonymous,
I don't want to seem rude but of course it boils down to ideology, Cuba is cheaper because everyone who works there are little more then slaves who do the bidding of the state or else suffer the consequences.
Cuba charges no $$$$ for the medical training, all it cost is your total obedience and unquestioning compliance.
This is what awaits a doctor who should be so bold as to refuse a procedure.

I could not go there period, these people are slaves, have no free will as we know it. I refuse to make my life better off the backs of others.
