I dunno, maybe they're BLUE or something...

How come when cops get them, they're "patrol rifles?"

And did whoever wrote the town's official justification for this have a straight face at the time? The world may never know...
"As the largest local police agency located on Interstate 40 between Nashville and Knoxville, Cookeville may prove to be the site of future terrorist acts if the projected surge in terrorism occurs.
I wondered what special circumstances would make Cookeville, Tennesee such a mecca for terrorists in the coming apocalypse, having never heard of the place myself. It turns out there's reason to worry...
Cookeville is a city in Putnam County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 23,923 at the 2000 census. The 2007 Census estimate of Cookeville's population is 28,901, and the combined total of those living in Cookeville's ZIP codes in 2000 is 55,448. It is the county seat of Putnam County and home to Tennessee Technological University. It is recognized as one of the country's micropolitan areas
Oh. Well, that's okay then. Still not sure what a "micropolitan area" is, but it makes sense that the cops should be armed to the teeth because I'm sure the terrorists will just flock there when the SHTF. "Patrol rifles" for everybody!

I suspect you heard of Cookeville and wisely forgot about it. It's a little town infested with cops with big attitudes.

On New Year's Day 2003 a family trying to pass through Cookeville was arrested at gunpoint, handcuffed and forced to kneel on the pavement, while their dog was executed in front of them. Their crime? Dad left his wallet on top of the car. People called the police, so they killed his dog.

Rather than apologize, the cops lined up behind dog-killer, who it turns out had done this before to other dogs.

After 5 years and nearly a million dollars in lawyer's fees, the town and cops lost on every count. The family got $9,000 plus attorney fees. The cops still kill dogs when they are bored.

I've driven 200 miles out of my way to avoid this pesthole. I don't want to spend one thin dime anywhere near a group of retards so profoundly stupid they tolerate and encourage this particular brand of thuggery.

Now they have new toys. Dogs should beware. Motorists beware.

Yep, Gotta love that deep south good-ole-boy bullshit.

In some towns the cops are perfectly polite and helpfull...in others, they'll pull you over for going 5 over, force you to pay the fine right then and there with cash and then tase you for "trying to bribe your way out of a ticket".
