Sometimes I go through a spate of not sleeping well. I'm afraid I'm headed into one of those now. It's probably just age, and if the problems you have come from growing old, you have no problems worth the bother of worry. In the long run, getting old is the best thing that can happen to you.
Went to bed at 8:30ish because I couldn't keep my eyes open. Considering the night I'd had before, not surprising. Then I woke at ONE in the frickin' MORNING, and couldn't go back to sleep to save my worthless life. So naturally now I'm all grim and grouchy and no use to man or beast.
Also, I'm getting a little worried about Little Bear. He gets bouts of the shits from time to time, no big deal, it's generally just someone he ate. But then it goes away, and it's not going away this time. He's still leaving foul little puddles all over the yard, and it's painful to watch him bend himself in half when there's clearly nothing left in there to shit. I wonder if you can feed - what's it called, that pink stuff - to a dog? He doesn't act like he's particularly sick, but then dogs often don't.
Other than that things are right as rain, and there's no excuse for me stomping around all grim and grouchy. But I'm doing it anyway...

Might try feeding LB some plain white (or brown) rice, and some yoghurt.
The rice will tend to solidify things, and the yoghurt will tend to make for a healthy gut.
also....I don't know about using Pepto Bismol......maybe Kaopectate instead....its basically just chalk and pectin.....and definitely NOT imodium.
Rice and yogurt. I can do that.
I second both Anonymi from much experience. Rice and yogurt or rice and cottage cheese until the episode is over.
And Kaopectate. "The pink stuff" is also okay, if that's what you have on hand.
Yogurt can be good for a while after a bout of the canine squats, too. It helps restore the balance of their gut bacteria.
If his stool gets tarry looking -- hit the vets. If it's just regular diarrhea, don't over-worry yourself.
Oh yeah ... just in case. That's cooked rice.
Has he been wormed lately? Seems obvious... but worth asking.
Abdominal distention and tenderness might indicate a more serious problem. He might have a chunk of bone caught sideways... and the diarrhea is nature's way of trying to flush it.
Just treating the symptom is not always the best, remember. If it doesn't stop soon, probably should see the vet.
We've done Pepto and rice when our dogs get sensitive tummies. Seems to help.
We've got a dog on a med that bothers her stomach a lot, and give her a OTC called Culturelle - same probiotic stuff that's in yogurt but concentrated. Works wonders, we've used it in similar circumstances in the past.
