Hm. Newfie?

In reply to the earlier post in which I speculated about Little Bear's Daddy, Commenter S suggested that maybe a Newfoundland snuck into the love shack.  My first thought was negative - Newfies are very large and very hairy.  LB's just kinda large and hairy.

Still - Mutt.  Who knows?

I went looking for Newfie images, and ran into this:

Except for the brown eyes and excessive hair, that's Little Bear!

Yes, I know.  I'm obsessing.

The lack of the double coat argues against a Newfie father. It was LB's face that made me think of Newfie, but those two photos side by side show the difference.

On the other hand, here's a link to a known shepard-newfie cross:

The same family photo album has pics of a shepard-lab cross:

Who knows?

Mutts are great dogs, how nice that you got such a good one. He is a handsome dog.

Gotta run now, but I'll look at those pix soon.

LB has a very thick winter undercoat that takes him months to shed when things warm up. Terribly prone to matting and very similar to Newfies, from the descriptions. Interesting.

lab + newfie + setter - spaniel * chow / chiuaua - coyote = yur doggie :) This is the normal foundling formula
