Must be Spring...

Weather's getting weird. Yesterday we had our first thunderstorm of the year: Not a cloud in the sky in the AM, and by four you wanted to avoid standing under junipers because the lightning was scary. Did the same this morning, now it's clouding up again. Wonder if we'll get any rain?
Baby Alexandra was having a good time, though...

What a cutie. I miss having horses. I don't miss shoveling shit, but I do miss having the beasts themselves.

Buck.

Yes indeed, she's a darling!

I miss my horses too, and all the other animals I used to have. I get over it when I think about how much fun it would be to keep them fed and clean at 10+ below zero.

My horse love is satisfied these days by watching the neighbor's animals. One guy down the street has a large flock of Guinea hens in his horse pasture. Comedy in motion. :)

Great photo. All fours off the ground at the same time. Was she buckin' or runnin'?

She was running so hard you'd think it was gonna be outlawed tomorrow.

She'd sprint away from Momma to the back fence next to the cliff that overlooks the wash, then turn and sprint all the way back. Check in with Mom, then do it again. It was a pretty morning, and she was putting it to good use.

This field (I never know what to call it: It's not a pasture because pastures have grass, it's not a corral because it encloses at least an acre, maybe more like 1.5) is the biggest of the bunch and the babies usually aren't kept in here because they tend to get antisocial if they can easily escape human contact. So she only gets to come in here a few times a week to run if she wants to. Alex here is still day-to-day on whether she thinks humans are a good idea.
