Just the last time we got together, M asked me if I was planning to try and plant something this Spring.
"Yeah," I said. "I've got it all worked out. I'm gonna berm up a little patch downhill from the leach field with that extra dirt. I've got a big pile of horseshit I'll work into the dirt, then I can flood the whole thing. Then I'll plant that Navajo corn you brought."
Then I got to wondering: I haven't actually seen that Navajo corn since I moved. Did I leave it in Landlady's barn?
Yes. Yes, I did.

Well, that was tasty, just not for you.
Look at it this way, it's probable that, further up the food chain, Click got some pay-back so it wasn't a complete fail. And I'd plant squash anyway - better for you than corn.
watermelons. :)
Smooth move there, Ex-lax.
Looks like one of my maneuvers.
Buck.
I'd recommend Hopi Pale Grey Squash. It should grow great in your area. Russian Black tomatoes do well for the altitude and weather conditions as well. They do need plenty of manure though.
But I like corn. Hate squash.
Fwiw, Joel - a lot of those Navajo corns are better for grinding than eating off the cob. (pretty to look at though)
Butternut squash can be pretty tasty - esp drenched in butter and lavished with toasted pecans.
Melons come in handy too - I've been growing a pueblo casaba for a few years now that can keep for a few months in a cool location. Got plenty of seed if you'd like...
PNO, you're on. I love melons. When you think about it send me an email at the address here.
Thanks!
