Remember when McDonald's fries tasted really good?

I do. It was a long time ago.

I have not eaten anything from a "McDonalds" for a long, long time.

My idea of "fries" is to take nice, fresh potatoes (any kind, but russets do best), scrub well and cut into 1/2 inch thick lengthwise slices and rub with salted olive oil. I have some seasoning called "potato plus" that seems to be at least half garlic powder, so that would work as well.

Spread on a oiled cookie sheet and pop into a toaster oven on the "toast" selection. Or just bake in the oven. Either way, watch closely because they brown fast after about 15 minutes at 350 degrees. Serve hot. :) The skins really make the flavor, even if you only season with salt.

I didn't say they were the best fries in the known universe, ML. I just said they used to taste good.

I know that, Joel. :) Just offering a much better alternative.

But then, I never did like ANY fast food "french fries" except those at a little burger outfit called "IN 'n OUT" there in So. Calif. The last few years even they were not so good. sigh
