...If they didn't make it so easy.
Via Boarding Area (via Uncle) comes the diatribe of a lady who claims to be a "former" TSA screener. Her screed is (very!) appropriately titled "Shut Up and Get In the Scanner." And she means it. She seems to find airline passengers very annoying.
I'm gonna ... you know, I'm not even gonna excerpt any of it here. It would be fun, but I don't want to further pollute my own blog. Go and read. Then join with me in agitating for a New Federal Law which mandates that all TSA personnel must henceforth wear an identifying insignia at all times - I suggest a blue glove embroidered on their outer clothing - to ensure that, should any of them spontaneously burst into flames in our vicinity, we don't inadvertently put out the fire. Because really, that would be tragic.
I suppose it's time...

I didn't read them all, but it would seem that most of those commenting understand the basics.
The answer to all the different needs and desires of passengers is, obviously, freedom to start airline companies and set up things to suit the different people. Those who wish to have their body parts patted and probed, or xrayed of course, could go to one airline that offered that.
Those who wished to be left alone could fly the friendly skies with an airline that didn't pat and probe.
Imagine an airline that encouraged passengers to be suitably armed, and even offered a discount to those who could prove some appropriate training. (Their airline, so they set that criteria, of course.)
Flying IS a privilege, unless you own the plane, of course.
The TSA is merely a symptom, not the disease. Getting rid of the TSA would be nice, but wouldn't solve the problem.
But no, I probably wouldn't put out the fire either...
The current (12:56 pm EST 11/15/2010) header at Drudge: A photo of a TSAer groping a nun. Headline: THE TERRORISTS HAVE WON
Cain't hardly argue.
Hey, even this TSA apologist says that the new, more aggressive pat downs are BS...
The Invasive Pat Down
"Ok that one is bullshit. It is a terror tactic by TSA to get you to walk through the more thorough body scanner. I can’t defend TSA on this one. I have talked to the TSA officers and it is no more effective than the old pat down procedure. They tested it out with trainers and each other. It is purely a terror tactic by TSA. Shame on TSA and anyone who has to get one should write a complaint in afterward. You still have to get it though if you want to get on the plane. Throwing a fit will not get you out of it."
"It's BS and a terror tactic but tough nuggies you have to do it anyway" isn't quite an apology where I come from.
